LIZ MATHIS. A JOBS PLAN ROOTED IN IOWA.

“If Linn County is going to compete in the global job market, we must have a strong plan that puts Iowa students and workers first.” - Liz Mathis

LIZ MATHIS’ 5 POINT PLAN TO PUT IOWA BACK TO WORK

1. Give Iowa companies the first crack at state and local contracts

Growing Iowa jobs means giving Iowa businesses a competitive advantage when it comes to state and local contracts. Liz Mathis supports giving Iowa businesses the first crack at taxpayer-funded work so our dollars create jobs in Iowa - not in other states or overseas.

2. Cut property taxes by $300 million for small businesses

As the spouse of a local small business owner, Liz Mathis knows it’s our Main Street businesses that drive local growth. That’s why Liz strongly supports cutting property taxes for small businesses by $300 million, and will fight to cut red tape and bureaucracy to help small businesses expand.

3. Support companies that hire Iowans

Hiring Iowans should be a goal for companies doing business in our state. In the State Senate, Liz will push for a new $2,000 tax credit for each new Iowan a business hires.

4. Putting more Iowans to work

Liz works for a nonprofit organization that is focused on teaching personal responsibility to at-risk kids and families on welfare, successfully moving hundreds from welfare to work. In the State Senate, Liz will fight to expand access to worker retraining programs that move more Iowans from welfare and into the workforce.

5. Recruit high-tech jobs to Iowa

An educated and highly-skilled workforce makes Linn County a leader in Iowa’s high-tech industry. In the State Senate, Liz will support new tax credits targeted at high-tech job recruitment to help expand this sector of our local economy.
